IOS 16 promises significant improvement for HomeKit. However, after going through the latest beta version and adding a home, I must say that, like other Apple Interfaces, it’s a clean interface for home automation. However, it still lacks the basic features of a complete system such as Crestron or Control4.
The integration is only accessible with a few brands like Lutron, but many other devices must be “HomeKit Ready” to work with HomeKit. While Control4 and Crestron offer thousands of drivers custom-made for a vast application, HomeKit seems to be still looking for partners.
So the verdict? You can use HomeKit as an additional interface if you love its design, but it’s still too soon to count as a home automation system.
We in Dana Smart Homes will look forward to the final and stable version of Ios16; who knows? There might be significant improvements!
