The controls on a wall are part of a room’s interior. They are also something people touch every day. Lux by Control4 brings those two considerations together with a coordinated collection of keypads, dimmers, switches and outlets.
For homeowners planning a renovation or updating an existing Control4 installation, Lux is an opportunity to reconsider both the appearance of the wall and the way the room is controlled.
A coordinated approach to finishes
The Lux range includes premium metal faceplates and multiple finish options. Control4’s overview highlights choices such as Chrome, Satin Nickel, Antique Bronze and Venetian Bronze. The appropriate finish and product combination should be confirmed for each location.
Our recommendation is to compare physical samples with nearby door hardware, cabinetry and wall finishes. A finish that looks right in a product image may read differently beside warm wood or under evening lighting.
Give each button a clear job
A keypad becomes more useful when its labels describe activities the household understands. During design, consider names such as Cooking, Dining and Evening rather than asking guests to remember which circuit controls which part of the ceiling.
For example, a proposed Dining scene could combine a comfortable table-light level with softer accent lighting. The exact levels and participating loads would be agreed and programmed for the room. This is a design example, not a preconfigured scene supplied with every keypad.
Control4’s Lux wired keypad supports configurable buttons and custom backlit engraving. Before ordering final engraving, approve a button schedule: the label, the action and the meaning of its indicator. Keep an obvious route to ordinary on/off operation.
Beauty still needs the correct electrical design
The keypad and the device controlling a lighting load can have different roles. A retrofit assessment should identify which controls operate local loads and which send commands to equipment elsewhere.
Have the installer check the intended lamps or LED drivers, electrical ratings and low-level dimming performance. Test the room with its actual lighting products before committing to a whole-house change. A phased upgrade can also help the household settle on useful labels and scenes.
