Today was a great day when our team was invited to a private event at the Panasonic Canada Inc. office, located at 5770 Ambler Drive, Mississauga, for an exclusive show.

The central theme and focus of the event were improvements in indoor air quality and the products supporting this initiative. Panasonic team featuring many product updates in the market, installation best practices and hands-on product demos on topics including:

• Exclusive Swidget Smart Home Controls
• Ultra-efficient Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs)
• WhisperAir Repair spot air purifier featuring Panasonic’s proprietary nanoX air purification technology
• Whisper Series Fans

I was specifically impressed with the super quiet Whisper Series Fans, which you can really apply to any residential and commercial buildings these days. In addition, the nanoX air purification technology; was basically built into a product that looked like an HVAC register that could easily be installed in your ceiling to constantly purify the air; and add oxygen to your everyday living.

What I truly loved was something that I personally had not seen before in terms of Smart Home Controls. A demo table featuring the Swidget Smart Home Controls displayed several versatile, modular smart outlets, switches and inserts. Basically, they had the retrofit light switch or electrical outlet, which could insert a modular chip into all different kinds of controls. With these smart controls, you could easily control your ERV, fans, cameras, motion or door sensors and much more as an end user. This was the most straightforward solution I had seen by far that could be applied to existing homes or commercial buildings to control the environment only by switching to a Wifi based smart light switch/outlet.

Our team had an outstanding opportunity to play competitively with the exciting golf simulator set up in a room, which turned the day into quite an experience! Overall this was a great networking event which was informative and fun at the same time.

This smart home technology is currently fully compatible with Control4 based on what the presenters said. They are working on compatibility with Crestron, though. So if you have a Control4 smart home automation system, you are already set. However, Crestron users can wait or use the technologies separately for now.
